Thanks for sharing about your experience traveling with Crohn's. My mom was diagnosed with Crohn's in the 70's, and if there had been more people sharing the experiences and earlier medical research her ability to travel (and just navigate everyday life) would have been so different. So important that you are creating space for these conversations. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing this! It's great that you're still able to travel and enjoy yourself, despite having Crohn's. You can't let it take you away from life, and it sounds like you have everything fairly well planned out for those "just in case" moments. I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, so I know on some level what it's like to be wary of the food you eat, or deal with consequences of the food you eat, etc.

This was a fascinating read and eye opening post! I went to grad school with 2 girls who had Crohn's and I always wondered about how their lives changed and how they managed. Thanks for sharing!

I am so glad that you don't let Crohn's stop you from travelling and enjoying yourself, Amy - I bet that Swiss chocolate and cheese were totally worth it! Great tips here - and fingers crossed we will get to travel again sometime soon!

I admire you for travelling with Chron's. I don't dare to do it, I only do local travel (visit places in vicinity of where I live). Some day I might dare it but not right now. Another reason why I don't really travel is the expense of the disease itself- another set back but as you say, everything is possible if you plan it. These are great tips. I agree that planning ahead is important. Getting rest but still going for a walk and not staying seated all the time is important too. I also think getting a traveller insurance is a good thing. I don' t remember the details right now but I know I have looked it up in the past and there are some great deals out there, the kind of affordable insurance that if it doesn't cover everything still gives one an added sense of security.

I didn't know that disease, and you did very well talking about!
I guess there are many people like you that could take loads of inspirarations (and useful tips) by it and maybe you'd even give them the chance to try to travel!
You're a strong and positive girl, keep on going like this! :)

I honestly didn't know anything about Crohn's disease, but it sounds like it would make traveling so much more difficult. It's amazing how well you were able to deal with it and still enjoy your time!

Hey Amy! First of all hope you and your beloved ones are doing good, thanks also for the nice comment on my latest blog post.

This is one is such a good blog post, with information that many travelers are looking for. My best friend has lupus and we have travelled together, so I'm sharing this with her right away.

Information is the key and you managed to be prepared, so nothing stopped your itinerary. Where do you want to go after the lockdown?

STAY SAFE :)

It's nice that you were able to get this trip in before the pandemic and even better that you were able to successfully plan and manage your Crohn's symptoms while in Cologne. Hope you're staying safe and well Amy!
