Sabiha Gokcen to the city in 2025: simple ways that work today

You land on the Asian side. Bags in hand. Now you want one clear plan from the airport to your hotel.

If you prefer a fixed pickup and a driver who meets you in arrivals, book a Sabiha Gokcen Airport transfer. It is door to door and easy after a long flight.

How long does it take

To Kadikoy the ride can take 45 to 60 minutes by taxi in normal traffic. To Taksim it is often 60 to 90 minutes, because you cross the Bosphorus by bridge or by tunnel. The metro from the airport to Kadikoy takes about 52 minutes end to end.

Your options at a glance

  • Private transfer. Meet-and-greet, price shown in advance, child seats on request.
  • M4 metro. Direct from the terminal to Kadikoy with easy city links.
  • HAVABUS shuttles. Nonstop buses to Kadikoy and to Taksim.
  • City buses. IETT routes to Kadikoy and beyond, plus a Taksim line.
  • Taxi. 24/7 at official ranks. Tolls are added if you use bridges or the tunnel.

M4 metro: predictable and cheap

The airport station sits under the terminal with three entrances. Trains run to Kadikoy. The line has 23 stations and the full run takes about 52 minutes. You can change to Marmaray at Ayrilik Cesmesi and reach the European side fast. Service starts early morning and ends at midnight.

HAVABUS shuttles: simple to the hubs

White coaches wait outside arrivals. Routes go to Kadikoy and to Taksim. The last stop for Taksim is near Divan Hotel. The last stop for Kadikoy is by the pier. Coaches run daily and take luggage in the hold.

City buses: lowest price

IETT buses link the airport with Kadikoy and central stops. The E-10 runs to Kadikoy. There is also an SG-2 line to Taksim. Expect a longer ride than the metro or a shuttle, but the price is low.

Taxi and private car: what to expect

Ask the driver for the best route before you start. If you use a bridge or the Eurasia Tunnel, the toll is added to the meter. The tunnel costs more by day and less by night. A private transfer shows the full price in advance. That is useful with kids or heavy bags.

Which option fits your trip

  • First time in Istanbul. Private transfer. No changes and no stress.
  • Solo on a budget. Take the M4 to Kadikoy. Walk or ferry from there.
  • Staying near Taksim. HAVABUS to Taksim, then a short taxi if needed.
  • Red eye arrival. Taxi or a booked car is the fastest move.

Quick tips that help

  • Use only marked taxi ranks and official counters. Ignore unsolicited offers in the hall.
  • Buy or top up an Istanbulkart for metro and buses.
  • Check the time of the last metro before you leave the terminal.
  • Share your hotel pin with the driver. English works, a map link is better.

Book when your plan is fixed
