My Stay at MEANDER Taipei: A Review (With Ginger Tea and Good Vibes)

Okay, so let’s talk about MEANDER Taipei, the kind of place that makes you go “yes, this is a vibe” instead of “this was fine, I guess.” I had a double room with a cosy little table and a charming sitting area tucked into the corner. Perfect for spontaneous tea ceremonies, scribbling thoughts into my journal, and just enjoying a brief pause between travels.

The common areas, though, are where this place truly shines. At certain times, they serve free ginger tea and snacks, and wait for it, RAMEN in the shared space. Yes, actual ramen, and there’s plenty to choose from. This is the adult version of free breakfast cereal and it hits different when you’re jet lagged and slightly delirious.

The communal lounge and kitchen area is huge and actually comfortable, which is rare for a hostel style place and great for meeting people or just lounging with a bowl of aforementioned ramen. Lots of other travellers raved about how social and welcoming it is, and some even stayed for a week or more because they made instant friends. I get it.

And the location? Top tier. You’re literally steps from Ximending’s bustling streets, night markets, food, shopping and awesome transport links. You can walk to Ximen MRT in minutes, which makes exploring Taipei a breeze, especially if you want to nip out for dumplings at 10pm or bubble tea at 3am (and yes, places are still open!).

Room comfort was really good: clean and roomy, and with the nicest shower. I felt so refreshed.

A few of my personal highlights:

  • Location is excellent. Central, convenient and fun that never feels too crazy.
  • Common areas are huge and actually useful. Space to eat, chill, and meet others.
  • Staff are friendly and helpful.
  • Social atmosphere. Whether you’re solo or with friends, it’s easy to connect.

The overall vibe leans more “fun, social basecamp” and honestly, that’s exactly why it’s so pleasant. It’s a really solid, lively place to stay in Taipei with a few bonus perks that make you feel instantly at home.

Would I stay again? Absolutely. Especially if I want convenience, a social atmosphere, and that “this place gets me” energy.

Bonus: If you’re thinking of booking MEANDER Taipei, here’s a little treat for you:

It’s a small perk that makes the stay even sweeter!
